The point is that every day feels the same as the day before. The human mind perfectly enslaved into the reality they're born into. The lack of awareness as to what is really going on because the illusion occupies their entire focus.

It's pretty easy to make me cry the first time, but after i watch a movie the second time i don't shed a tear at all. There's one exception: Satoshi Kon's Millennium Actress. The scene when the audience finds out the painter she has been chasing her whole life has been dead the whole time makes me cry every single time. I can't even explain why. The music of the montage that follows it helps but even then, the sentence "it's chasing him that i love" makes me tear up whenever i think of it, music or not. Damn, i'm gonna go rewatch it rn

53:00 ngl I also didn’t like it. It’s not as in depth as it can be with the idea of politics in the universe. Star Wars in the Lucas film has dialogue that is almost like a inside joke, what I mean by that is that the dialogue has so many out of context references that makes the world so dense with everything happening around it. TFA did away with that by how limiting the world building was like compared to the film it’s inspired by. Look at episode IVs first lines Spice Mines, the senate and the emperor are already given info. The Tarkin scene where Motti chocked is also so dense with the planetary control of the empire’s regime. Turning regions into governorships with Rome as a basis of inspiration. All these people complain about Lucas but he sets up so many lore aspects which is why a lot of material can be easily be expanded upon.

So you took one position and defended your argument but you are NOT unbiased or objective. Just so you know. If you took the ending of part I as hopeful or positive then you are a lousy interpreter of stories and overall bad at reading between the lines. Abby "doesn't have a plot" is actually the purpose of her story. She took revenge for her father but she can't find peace, she is not fulfilled by any means and so she seems lost following other people's stories until she finally realizes the importance of survivability, her bond with Lev

Here's the thing. Jurassic would have no problem making all the money in the world if they decided to tell an interesting story with dinos. Fallen Kingdom and Dominion were too long and boring. We had an interesting premise of dinos loose across the world which could create tons of interesting plots, but instead we're focusing on locusts. We should have had a movie like Cujo with a family trapped at a camp site that's being stalked by a Carnotaurus or Baryonyx. Or a movie like The Mist where a group is trapped and must figure out how to escape/get rescued. Or give me The Blair Witch Project but instead of a ghost, we have a group terrorized by Compys that slowly pick the group off. Boring me in a dino movie should be a crime.

You want peaceful aliens who have no human history or dna to act as humans in their past lives to send a human political message. I guess that's the problem. Well written stories have to be relatable to us, teach us something and be a sort of "metaphor" for life as Mr. Krepshus puts it. So, art, at least from our perspective, is only good if it relates to us. So what happens if its not relatable to us, but to an alien? What if the message is we are simply not equipped to live with nature. That our way of life, culture, values and ideals in no way can end up creating a future like what the Na'avi have? I wonder. But, none of that matters. Maybe all amazing stories have gray areas for someone. But, I like way of the water better than the first because of one character alone. The majestic creature, Payakan. Anyway, greetings from Tanzania.

I think you really got the nail on the head when you said how changing fundamental parts of a character CAN be done if it's the focus of the story. So many times you will hear people say "You just hate anything that's different from the source material, you never would have given it a chance" when in actuality, those changes can be extremely compelling to watch but when they're done in a way that showcases the reason for the change instead of being forced to fit a specific idea.

Safin wasn't all that bad. There's definitely been better Bond villains but I think he was creepy enough to be unpredictable, even if he was completely predictable. If that makes sense. Kinda just right there in the middle. Either way I loved the movie.

The first _Jurassic World_ trailers made me think they'd decided to go full satire on Disney World and/or Sea World. Which I think would've been a great direction, even if they hadn't done much in terms of new themes. Still seems like a missed opportunity, but the creativity in most filmmaking is so nonexistent now that it's hard to be surprised.

Much more terrifying than joker or darth Vader. Okay >< 1. The boys is longer than 2 hours. Joker gets one movie. 2. Homelander isn’t scary. Superman is scary. If the concept of Superman didn’t exist, Homelander wouldn’t be as scary. Joker and DV are playing themselves, not a parody of themselves 3. The actor is great 👍 4. Homelander is allowed to breathe. He doesn’t have to the main villain in every scene, he just has to be lurking in the shadows with confusing motives, so we don’t get sick of him 5. Joker and DV are everywhere, so the horror of their existence and actions aren’t terrifying because we know them and we know what to expect from them. They are exciting to watch. 5. Homelander is good. He is a hero. Joker and DV are not heroes. There is no question about this. They are labeled evil with the potential to do good. But they are outsiders. Homelander however is on the inside, we relate to him, he’s one of us. He’s on our side. The evil from within the house is more terrifying than the evil outside. 6. There are no heroes in the Boys. There are just selfish people and people who are more selfish. And the people who are more selfish have no equals. Like a human foot fighting an ant. For example the least scary this show has ever been was during the finale when British!Bruce Wayne shot himself up with super!heroin to fight Injustice!Superman. Why was that not scary? Because it was a live action DBZ fight. Thrilling sure, but no one’s gonna die, and if they did it’s because they suck at fighting. They had a fair shot. Inequality in power brings terror. Equality in power brings excitement

I dont know whats worse, the idea that you can just attribute "Themes" to a badly written, badly directed, badly acted Movie and somehow the themes are what makes this movie amazing, not its poorly implementation. Or the trend of literaly throwing shit on a wall, calling it the downfall of western society in a post modernistic world and expect it to be a masterpiece. Seriously, who cares ? A lot of stories are even written without a concrete theme in mind, it just happens to emerge naturaly. I mean, look at The Room, on paper it deals with a lot of good themes, but the execution ? How about, stop writing themes, write stories without moral grandstanding and the expection that your themes are gonna carry your story ? To quote Stephen King: "Starting with the questions and thematic concerns is a recipe for bad fiction. Good fiction always begins with story and progresses to theme.”
